Preview a Beta Version

beta Version available

Thanks for previewing this beta version of Timelapse, made available primarily for testing before its general release. I do try to test Timelapse thoroughly before releasing it, but sometimes I don’t catch everything (especially if its due to your particular Windows environment being different from mine). having others trying out the beta version (and reporting errors, if any) is extremely helpful.

Download beta as a zip file

This is a self-contained version (i.e., includes .Net 8). Most people will use this.

Usually by systems people; requires that .Net 8 is installed separately.

If your machine is locked down, this is likely a reasonable workaround.,

  1. Extract the software. Open the zip file by double clicking it and extract the Timelapse folder to a location of your choosing.
  2. Read the draft PDF chapter for an explanation of the new feature.
  3. Run Timelapse.exe in the folder – in that way, you can try it, while leaving your shortcuts to your non-beta Timelapse.exe unaffected.

What’s different in this Beta Version

Adds a new facility as described below

  • Export (embed) data into files as image metadata, available as a File menu item, will let you select data fields and export (write) them as metadata directly into your image files. See the draft PDF chapter for an explanation.Metadata is written into the XMP-TimelapseData group both as individual fields (.e.g., XMP-TimelapseData: species deer) and as a json collecting all fields (tag name is json).
  • Populate one or more fields with any metadata (in the Edit menu) has been slightly revised, e.g., you can click the column headers to sort by them

What I would like you to test

  1. Read the draft PDF chapter . Is it understandable?
  2. Try writing your data as metadata. Does it appear correctly in the feedback panel>
  3. The PDF above includes an explanation of how you can read in that data using R. Does it work for you?
  4. Any comments are appreciated, in particular if it addresses your issues.
